SIM SANDERS ALGERIA OPENS A NEW CATTLE FEED MANUFACTURING PLANT IN AÏN DEFLA

Aïn Defla (Algeria), 20 October 2015 ― Sim Sanders Algeria, a Franco-Algerian joint enterprise between the SIM Spa Group and SANDERS (a subsidiary of the Avril Group) has opened its new cattle feed manufacturing facility in the industrial zone of the Prefecture of Aïn Defla, 140 km west of the capital, Algiers.  The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Sid Ahmed FERROUKHI - Algerian Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Bernard Emié - French Ambassador to Algeria, Kamel ABBAS - Prefect of Aïn Defla, Abdelkader TAIEB EZZRAIMI - Chief Executive Officer of the SIM Group and Eric PHILIPPE - Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Avril Group.

These new industrial facilities at the cutting edge of technology constitute the first livestock feed manufacturing plant in Algeria to be constructed wholly according to European standards.  This €11 million investment provides Sim Sanders Algeria with the capacity to produce 150,000 tonnes of feed each year. The plant will in particular recycle local by-products and raw materials such as locust beans, almond shells or olive husks, together with other imported raw materials.  It will also enable the creation of new jobs.

Through this investment, Sim Sanders Algeria is reaffirming its ambition to become the national leader in cattle feeds by drawing on the know-how of Sanders, the leader in animal nutrition in France, and of the SIM Spa Group, the Algerian leader in cereal processing.  This partnership also reflects the company's commitment to supplying high quality feeds with a clear mission: to provide technical support and feed solutions adapted to the needs and resources of Algerian livestock farmers, to improve herd management and product quality (milk, white meat and red meat) and to reduce production costs, thus ensuring the greater profitability of livestock units.

According to Abdelkader TAIEB EZZRAIMI, "To accomplish great things it is not sufficient just to dream but also to act, not just to believe but also to want... We believed, we wanted it together, and now SIM SANDERS ALGERIA has been born.  Today, we wish to give a modern and dynamic vision to the livestock feed sector, which is so strategic for our industry."

For Eric Philippe, "We are particularly proud to be opening this new plant, which offers cutting edge facilities so that we can work better with our partner livestock breeders in Algeria.  It allows us to reaffirm our commitment to supporting the development of a dynamic and flourishing market, which is seeing increasingly strong demand."
